Pee Wee Audubon November 1999

THANKSGIVING PROGRAM
Saturday, November 13th

Join us on this date for our annual Thanksgiving program at the beautiful Oceansong nature preserve. Guide David Berman will lead nature games and activities and ecological exploration. Some of you may remember David's program from several years ago. Responding to popular demand, David has agreed to lead us again on what is sure to be a wonderful day at Oceansong. Also joining us will be Jim Kirk, who will be showing us how to make Indian bead jewelry and other crafts. Jim is a kindergarten teacher who has developed quite a reputation among Pee Wee Audboners for his annual bird walk and bird box building at Spring Lake.

Having both Jim and David on the same day is just...well, reason enough to be thankful!
Program time is from 1 PM to 5 PM. Dress in layers,
bring snacks and water, and expect a beautiful sunset on the Sonoma Coast to top off our day!

Call Janice Sinclaire for reservations and directions to Oceansong, 433-1150.

Solstice Program

Mark your calendars now for Pee Wee's annual Solstice/Holiday program at the Central Library in downtown Santa Rosa on December 11th, 10 am. Artist/storyteller Ane Rovetta will be joining us once again for stories and holiday crafts.

Report from Hawk Hill

Dear Pee Wee Audubon,

Thank you so much for arranging the trip to Hawk Hill in the Marin Headlands. What a view! We learned about the Red-tailed Hawk and about other birds too. Billy was a good guide. He showed us things to look for like the "t.v." when the turkey vultures fly. We saw lots of different birds and even a bald eagle! Thank you for doing this for us, we like going to stuff like this.

Sincerely,

By Josh Carpenter (9) & Aaron Carpenter (10)

Thoughts of Thanksgiving

We join with the earth and with each other

To bring new life to the land
To restore the waters
To refresh the air

We join with the earth and with each other

To renew the forests
To care for the plants
To protect the creatures

We join with the earth and with each other

To celebrate the seas
To rejoice in the sunlight
To sing the song of the stars

We join with the earth and with each other

To recreate the human community
To promote justice and peace
To remember our children

We join with the earth and with each other

We join together as many and diverse expressions
of one loving memory: for the healing of the
earth and the renewal of all life.
