Russian River Water Wrangling
Many thanks to those who responded to last month's request for volunteers to help represent Madrone Audubon on the Russian River Watershed Council. We had three representatives at the RRWC meeting in Cloverdale on September 11. For the time being, Joannie Dranginis will be our official designate, alternating with Jennifer Michaud, a graduate student in environmental studies at SSU.
The RRWC is a possibly impossible coalition of the Army Corps of Engineers, economic interests on the river, and environmental advocates. Joannie has written a candid description of the Council's September meeting, illustrating the difficulties the RRWC has before it. For a copy, please see Madrone's Web site, www.audubon.sonoma.net, or call Joannie at 523-4373.
