Field Trip Reports
November 21, 1998 With a storm threatening and
in heavy fog, five birders found 71 species at Bodega Bay. Birds were close
in due to the tide and very good views were had of Black-bellied
and Semi-palmated Plovers as well as seven species of gulls. While
eating our lunches at Doran Beach we were joined by a Sharp-shinned Hawk
who sat in a tree above and consumed what appeared to be a mouse.
December 5, 1998 On a very cold, clear day, 13
birders met at the Petaluma Sewer Ponds and later went to Shollenberger
Park. Sixty-nine species were tallied. Highlights were Blue-winged Teal,
Cinnamon Teal, Green-winged Teal, Sora, Virginia Rail and Peregrine
Falcon.
January 19, 1999 Thirteen birders attended a very
cold and windy field trip at Bodega Bay. A total of 90 species were seen
by the group, most notable was an OrchardOriole below Diekman's Store. |
