West Sonoma County Christmas Bird Count

December 27th is the day to set aside for the annual Bird Count. Counters will join their team leaders and spend the day in one of the twenty territories searching out our regular winter birds, and hopefully an occasional vagrant. There is no need to worry about missing this great occasion because of aberrant weather---this show goes on regardless.

Following the count we will feast at our famous potluck at 390 Morris Street, Sebastopol. Volunteers are needed to help out at the potluck. Please call Peter Leveque, 542-8946, to volunteer. Coffee, tea, cocoa and cups will be provided. Please bring your own plates, utensils and a supper dish for six.

The results of this nation-wide count are published in American Birds as an important indicator of species well-being throughout the hemisphere. Participants are asked to pay a $5 fee to help with processing and publication of the findings of this massive undertaking. For more information, contact our compilers, Ken Wilson, 823-8408, and Russ Agnew, 823-7555.
