The Mayacamas Sanctuary SettlementUnder the terms of the Settlement Agreement, the City of Santa Rosa has agreed to the following measures designed to minimize impacts to the Sanctuary: 1) A full-time mitigation monitor, selected with Audubon's approval, will oversee all construction activity to assure compliance with the terms of the Settlement. 2) Visual and noise disturbances will be eliminated or minimized as part of the design and placement of the project's facilities. 3) Audubon will receive $15,000 immediately, to begin surveying, mapping and restoration planning on the Sanctuary. 4) Audubon will receive $260,000, if and when the City awards contracts for construction on the Pine Flat Road section of the preserve. 5) The City will avoid construction activities during the nesting season. 6) The City will conduct a biological survey of the pipeline route prior to construction, and avoid or mitigate impacts to sensitive areas. 7) The City has agreed to participate in a Task Force to consider ways to prevent future incursions on "Forever Wild" easements. |
