Midweek Walkabout Results
May 28, 1998 The Walkabout at Sugarloaf State Park,
led by Betty Groce, didn't get beyond the parking lot due to pouring down
rain (can you believe it?). Jean and Jim Tonascia came in spite of the rain
and we sat in the car listening to the rain and for birds. At 9 o, when
no one else had come, we disbanded. With the aid of an umbrella and rain
gear, I got a close-up look at a male Lazuli Bunting. There were
three species observed and two species heard for a trip total of 5 species.
June 3, 1998 The last walk of the season was at
Annadel State Park. The weather was overcast and drizzly. Fourteen birders
were present and disappointed because the Yellow-breated Chat couldn't
be found, the first time in recent memory. Finding a House Wren's
nest occupied and with chicks made up for it. |
