Newsletter Survey ResultsThe May 1998 issue of the Leaves contained a readership survey requesting feedback from subscribers. A total of 135 forms were returned, out of approximately 1,800 printed. The editors wish to thank those who took the time to fill out the survey and would like you to know that your feedback and suggestions will be used as a guide in preparing future issues. We would also like to thank you for the numerous kind words of encouragement that were included. Here is a sampling of the results. The most-read features of the newsletter, are "The Calendar" (1), "Observations" (2), "Christmas Bird Count Results" (3), "Results of Bird Walks" (4), "Backyard Birding" (5), and "Announcement of Monthly Meeting (6). More than half of the respondents indicated they read each of these features "Always." The respondents indicated that they would most like to read articles about birds, birding and environmental issues specific to Sonoma County, with less interest in general Northern California and statewide issues. The survey results indicate that Madrone members are a "wired" lot. Exactly 50% of the respondents said they had a computer with an Internet connection. This is considerably higher than the national average. Unfortunately, we haven't been very successful in getting the word out that Madrone has a Web site. Only 17% of those who have an Internet connection had ever visited the site. So, here's an incentive for the other 83%: the complete results of the survey can be found on our web site. |
