Wrapping Up a Productive Year |
Annual Meeting New Officers InstalledJoanne Dranginis of Santa Rosa was installed as President of the Madrone Audubon Society at the Annual Meeting on May 18. Joanne has been MAS representative to the Sonoma County Conservation Council and Circulation Manager for the Leaves. She and her husband, Michael, are long-time Madrone members; he served two terms as President in 1990-92. The Dranginises have two daughters in high school. Taking office as Treasurer is Michael Manner, a CPA who has extensive experience in non-profit organizations and government. Michael teaches at Santa Rosa Junior College and has an office in Calistoga. He and his wife, Mary, are novice birders, who enjoy the wildlife around their home on Petrified Forest Road. Also new to the Board is Crystal Ockenfuss, Recording Secretary. Crystal became involved in birding through her German husband, Georg, who, along with his parents, was active in the German birding society and in Peregrine Falcon restoration efforts in the Black Forest. Crystal is working on a dissertation for her Ph.D. in German Literature from the University of Virginia. Continuing officers are Vice-president Dan Kahane, and Corresponding Secretary Sherrie Thomas. Claire Shurvinton is the new MAS representative to the Sonoma County Conservation Council, and Nancy Vizi is Outreach Chair. Awards Judy Burness was presented the Evalyn and Les Bowen Award for outstanding contributions to the Chapter. Judy has been the co-editor of the Leaves since 1995, has been active in the Membership committee and has always been willing to jump in to handle special projects. Congratulations to Betty and Judy. Your hard work has helped to make this a great Chapter and it is greatly appreciated. |
