Legal Action on the Pipeline Midweek Walkabout Results Audubon Day at Bouverie May 17 Business Offers Membership in Audubon |
Bad Day at Black PointNovato voters last month approved a ballot measure supporting a proposed golf course and 53-home residential development at Black Point, the long-time site of the Renaissance Faire on Highway 37. Marin Audubon Society had fought the proposal, which calls for filling wetlands and destroying thousands of native oaks. Madrone and many members throughout the North Bay helped fund the Marin chapter's challenge to illegalities in the approval process. That suit won its day in court but is being appealed by the developers, who still have several more permits to obtain. According to Barbara Salzman, President of the Marin Audubon Society, it is not clear at present whether there remains much hope of saving the wetlands and the oak woodland. |
