February is the month to set out new nest boxes and be sure last year's boxes are clean and ready for re-occupation.

Almost 100 boxes have been built and distributed so far this year by Madrone Audubon's volunteer crew. Many thanks to the carpenters, Peter Leveque, Roger Marlowe, John Lundblad, and Dwight Tracy; and to the donors of construction materials, Barbara Tracy, Lew and Marilyn Edmundson, Marilyn Scott, and Cameron and Cameron Building Materials; and finally, to master salesperson Joan Dranginis. In addition to providing homes for many bird families, the project has raised more than $1,500 this year for education and conservation programs of Madrone Audubon.

MAS nest boxes are available at our monthly membership meetings for $10. They may also be ordered by mail, by sending $20, along with your name, address, and phone number, to Bird House, Madrone Audubon Society, Post Office Box 1911, Santa Rosa, California 95402. The box will be mailed to you or, if you wish, a volunteer can deliver it and even mount it in an appropriate location for you.
