Pee Wee ReportMarin Headlands Outing, September 21 When we came it was very foggy. We saw a lot of people with binoculars. There was a lady talking, it was very good because I learned a lot about birds and hawks. She showed us wings and talons and later I wondered how she got them? We met Chris, he is very nice. He showed me some good books. He is a teenager, he knows a lot about birds. I want to thank him for telling me a little bit about the things that we saw. He had a scope. He showed me a Kestrel sitting on a telephone pole. I had problems trying to see the birds with my oma's (grandmother's) binoculars. I saw a Cooper's Hawk, Turkey Vulture, Red-tailed Hawk, Kestrel, a sparrow but no one paid attention to the sparrow because they were watching for hawks. Then a man came. He had a bird in a coffee can, the bird had a tiny little metal tag. He took out the bird and talked about it a little bit. The best part was when the man let go of the bird that was banded. It was a Cooper's Hawk. It was a fun hawking day. Cairo Marcopoulos |
