Volunteers Survey Finds Zero Owl Nests Welcome New Members | | Pee Wee ReportsPoint Reyes Outing - May We liked the Pee Wee Audubonat Pt. Reyes. We saw a woodpecker nest in a tree, a Barn Swallownest, Red-tailed Hawks and Turkey Vultures flying in the sky,a dead mole on the ground, and a live vole running across the parking lot.On the Earthquake trail, we saw a tick, miner's lettuce, and a Song Sparrowat the creek. We spotted a gopher snake and Jim picked it up and we gotto take a close look at it. We liked the rattlesnake egg trick and the rattlesnakein a box trick that Jim did. At the Miwok Indian village we got to drilla hole in a shell and make a necklace out of it like the Indians did. Thebest part was going to the beach were we saw humpback whales and Pelicans, and we got to go into the water. It was fun! Eric, Luke, Deanna Rafla-Yuan ages7, 5, and 4. Bodega Bay Mudflats - June It was fun because Ihave never seen so very many crabs or sea animals. The only crabs I caughtwere real small. All the crabs we saw were male crabs. My boots were OKmost of the time, but when we went into the deep water, they soaked rightthrough. The worms were really cool to look at. I've never seen worms thatwere white....I have never seen a moon snail, and now I know what it islike to have a moon snail on your hands. It's slimy and sticky. The moonsnails were really big. About the size of a dessert plate. And I was wonderingwhy the group didn't see any octopus. A friend and I did. People didn'tbelieve us, but we did. We even found a hermit crab. I hope you know whatit's like to have wet feet after a long walk in the water. I hope I cancome back to the mud flats. Claire Fuller age 7 |
