Pee Wee Explores the Bodega Mudflats

by Marilynn Scott

Pee Wee Audubon's next outing will be our last until September, and it's a very special one. On June 8 we'll explore the mudflats at Spuds Point Marina in Bodega Bay with Peter Leveque. This is a great opportunity to spend time with this superb environmental educator. To take advantage of the low tide we will be gathering at 8:30 AM. We'll squish through the mudflats to see some wonderful creatures like shore crabs, worms, and clams. We'll also examine the animals on the pilings of the wharf.

Wear tennis shoes that can get wet or rain boots. Bring lunch, a small bucket for collecting, a windbreaker, layered clothing, and a hat. It's a good idea to bring extra pairs of dry socks, shoes, and even pants for the trip home.

Directions: Spuds Point Marina is north of Bodega Bay. From Highway 1 going north, turn left on Westside Road. Follow around the bay to the Marina and park in the large lot there.

Please call Elham at 573-7183 to reserve a place for your family.
