Edmondson and Scott Honored, Officers InstalledMarilynn Scott and Lew Edmondson were honored at Madrone Audubon Society's Annual Meeting on May 19. Marilynn, who chairs the Pee Wee Audubon program, received the Bewick's Wren award for exceptional service, and Lou, who organizes the chapter's Field Trips and Walkabouts, was presented with the Evalyn and Les Bowen Award for outstanding contributions to the Madrone Audubon Society. Both recipients joined Madrone fairly recently, and immediately became very active participants and leaders. Lew joined the chapter in May of 1991, and soon was a regular on Walkabouts and Field Trips. In 1995 he accepted responsibility for organizing the Field Trips, and he is now doing extra duty by planning the weekly Walkabouts as well. Lew is also working on the Mayacamas bird census, and is a stalwart of the Christmas Bird Count and many other Madrone activities. Marilynn transferred into the Madrone chapter in February, 1994, and immediately became active in Pee Wee Audubon, first as a co-chair and since 1995 as chair. Organizing the tremendously successful program is a big job, and with Marilynn's leadership it continues to attract more and more children and their families. She is also a docent at the Bouverie Preserve. Each award recipient was presented with a handsome hand-blown lamp, donated by Wolfard & Company of Montgomery Village. The lamps are mounted on a wooden base created by Michael Dranginis. During the meeting the chapter also installed its officers for 1997-98. They are: Jeff Holtzman, President |
