Does the Mandarin Duck Count? | Madrone Audubon on the Info Autobahn Now that even the mayonnaise jar in your refrigerator has its own Webpage* (www.mayo.com), can Madrone Audubonbe far behind? You can bet your egg-salad sandwich on it. Several Madronemembers have been prototyping a page for the last few months and it shouldbe ready for a public launch within the next month. The page will have theChapter's calendar of events continuously updated, the latest issue of theLeaves available at least a week before it shows up in your mailbox, back issues of the Leaves, time-sensitive environmental announcementsand much more. Now, here's where you come in--the Chapter needs some helpcreating the content that will appear in cyberspace. You don't need to beconnected to the Internet (though that would be a plus) and you certainlydon't need to be computer literate. You do need to have information (orbe willing to find it) that would be interesting to other Madrone membersand non-members who surf the net to our site. Specifically, we would liketo have an editor who would maintain an environmental bulletin section, providing information on local and regional environmental issues and howindividuals can get involved. We would also like to provide a Birding-in-the-North-Baysection listing the hot birding spots, how and when to get there and whatto expect. How about a rare-bird alert section? Or maybe you have a waycool idea that we haven't thought of. If you want to get involved (and weknow you do), contact Malcolm Blanchard at mab@mabco.comor phone him at 996-0935. ______ *A Web page is a location on the World Wide Web that makes informationavailable to any computer user in the world who has a connection to theInternet.
