Pee Wee Audubon

Pee Wee Audubon will be putting up nest boxes again this year at SpringLake Park. The date is Sunday, March 23, from 10:00 AM until about 1:00PM. John Klobas and Jim Kirk will be up in the trees, discussing habitatconservation, the birds that are likely to use the nest boxes, where itis best to place the nest boxes, and how they affect local bird populations.Eight new blue bird families are reported to be in the Visitor Center areabecause of our past efforts!

Those who attended the February program should bring the nest box kitsthey took home to assemble. (Unless you prefer to put it up somewhere else, which is okay.) Pee Wee is providing one free nest box per child; additionalboxes are available for $10 each through Madrone Audubon.

We will also be scheduling a Nest Box Maintenance Day for a weekend earlyin March, when we will service the boxes we put up in past years. It isoften fascinating to see what we find in them!

To participate in either or both of these activities, please call Elhamat 573-7183.

Be sure to save Saturday, April 19, for an outing with David Berman focusedon activities for family camping and outdoor adventures.
