When we walked down to the mouth of the Russian River, we saw hauled outharbor seals. It was neat to see them up close through the spotting scope.Naturalist Ginger Parish told us a wonderful story about How Raven BroughtWater to the World. She told it very well, with lots of expression. Then we alldrove to Shell beach, and Ginger told us about all the creatures we might seewhile tide pooling. We picked up sea stars, watched hermit crabs crawl acrossour hands, saw very fast sculpins (fish), and saw a tide pool octopus. It wasalso neat to taste Sea Lettuce, a kind of sea weed, which tasted just likesalt. It was a beautiful day and just before we left, the sunset was pink, reflecting onto the ocean with very strange clouds. It was a great fieldtrip! Eve and Emma Monrad |
