The Winter of the Red-breasted Nuthatch

Christmas Bird Count December 29

The 30th annual Western Sonoma County Christmas Bird Count will be held onSunday, December 29, followed by a potluck dinner at the Sebastopol CommunityCenter on Morris Street. Whether you're an expert birder or a novice, or preferto be a driver or record-keeper or work on food prep or cleanup, if you want tohelp there's a job for you. To participate in the count, call compilers KenWilson (823-8408) or Russ Agnew (823-7555). To volunteer your help with thedinner, please call Peter Leveque at 542-8946.

The results of the nationwide count are published in National Audubon SocietyField Notes as an important indicator of species well-being throughout thecountry. National Audubon asks that participants pay a $5 fee to help withprocessing and publication of the findings from this massive undertaking. Thoseattending the dinner also bring a dish to share at the potluck.
