November General Meeting

"The Battle to Save Mono Lake: Its History and Current Status"will be the program of the November 18th General Meeting of the MadroneAudubon Society. In September 1994, the California State Water ResourcesControl Board reached its historic decision regarding the fate of Mono Lake. After 15 years of litigation, the Los Angeles Department of Water and Powerwas ordered to return water to the Lake and restore its damaged streamsand wetlands. How did this conflict start? Why was the Lake so important? What has happened since the Water Board decision? Join Jill Shirley, directorof Audubon's Chapter Outreach Programs, as she tells the story of Mono Lake, its importance to birds on the Pacific Flyway, and the re-birth of thismagnificent landscape. Expect beautiful photographs and an interesting storyabout one of Audubon's most significant conservation battles in the West.

The meeting begins at 7:30 PM at the First Presbyterian Church, Ingram Hall,1550 Pacific Avenue, Santa Rosa. As always, the public is welcome.
