| | Northern San Francisco Bay Flyway Festival The Partnership for the San Pablo Baylands is sponsoring the Northern SanFrancisco Bay Flyway Festival November 8 through 10. The featured eventis a Family Wildlife Exploration Day, Saturday, November 9, 9 to 4 in Building505, Mare Island, Vallejo, (proposed U. S. Fish & Wildlife Service NorthBay Environmental Education Center serving the Marin Islands and San PabloBay National Wildlife Refuge.) Saturday's activities include presentationsof San Francisco Bay Estuary ecology, habitats and species, wildlife art,beginning bird identification, educational exhibits and games for all ages.
There will also be guided visits to nearby birding hot spots, federal andstate wildlife refuges, protected habitat on former military bases, agriculturaloperations practicing sustainable growing techniques, wetland restorationssites and turn of the century duck clubs.
Numerous specialized birding field trips, as well as hiking, canoe outingsand youth activities are also scheduled Friday evening through Sunday afternoonNov. 8 to 10.
