September 4, 1996
This, the first walkabout of the year, was at Bodega Bay. The warmsunny day brought out 26 birders. They managed to find 71 species, most ofwhich were returning shorebirds.

September 11, 1996
On an overcast day 18 enthusiastic birders met. We explored theCampground and found the Pygmy Nuthatch, a lifer for many. We then wentto Casini Ranch for a close view of the Wood Duck and Coots. Fromthere we proceeded to the Coastal Conservancy (6.3 miles north of Bridgehaven)where we heard the highlight of the trip: calling Harriers. This was afirst for everyone. A joint effort produced a good look at aSavannah Sparrow, a first for one birder. We ended the day at JennerOverlook. A total of 65 birds were observed.
