PeeWee Report

Dutch Bill Creek, May 19, 1996
I went to Pee Wee Audubon on May 19th. First the teacher talked aboutanimals that live in the water. He told us that almost every single insect wasborn out of the water. He let us read about animals that live in the water. After that we went across a bridge to find critters that live in the water. When we were done finding bugs, we put them back. Then, we went to lunch andate. After lunch we went for a hike and we came to a old train tunnel but itwas mostly caved in, we did see some strange black beetles at the entrance. Mydad found a real four leaf clover. He's been looking for one for the past 30years. We went back where we ate lunch and made little bees that made buzzingnoises and saw skins from some wonderful forest animals including a mountainlion. Now I can say I was scratched by a lion and survived. It was lots of funand I can hardly wait for the next adventure trip with the Pee Wee Audubon.

Spring Lake Picnic, June 23
Under the oaks we sat bathed in warm sunlight listening contently to thestory of how gopher pushed up the California mountains and how raven broughtwater to the thirsty animals. Then we made fish out of raffia and tule grass.
