URGE TO CONTINUE
NEGOTIATING WITH THE TRIBE!

ATTENDANCE NEEDED
TUESDAY 9:30 a.m. OCTOBER 21
BOARD OF SUPERVISORS MEETING!
575 Administration Dr., Room 102A, Santa Rosa

We desperately need the assistance of Sonoma environmental organizations in turning out Sonoma County residents for the Tuesday meeting of the Sonoma Board of Supes. If you have read the Press Democrat Saturday October 11, you know that at least three of the Supervisors intend to oppose the Rohnert Park site. Opposing Rohnert Park is not per se dangerous, but discontinuing negotiations is. We could lose the Sears Point land, and, just as significantly, the Graton Tribe could purchase and develop parcels throughout Sonoma County, without limit, for uses inconsistent with present and future General Plans (residential developments, high-rises, dumps, malls, etc). Right now is the only juncture at which the Board of Supervisors has the leverage to negotiate with the Tribe to prevent that result, and to guarantee that only a single parcel will be taken into trust in Sonoma.

We ask everyone who can (including friends and neighbors) to attend the meeting on Tuesday. By 9:00 a.m., people will be in front of the building handing out green buttons which read "Oppose But Negotiate." Please attend, arrive early, and find the people handing out the green buttons.

Please note that neither our organization nor our members need take any position on Rohnert Park. Our position on Tuesday will not deal with Rohnert Park but with the continuing need for the County to reach some agreement with the Tribe concerning lands which can be taken into tribal trust.

We certainly do NOT want to see the area around Sears Point developed and a domino effect of development occur through the baylands. Preservation and restoration of the Baylands is a major priority of all levels of Audubon---local, state and national---and many other environmental organizations.

PLEASE PLAN TO ATTEND!!! 575 Administration Drive, Room 102A, Santa Rosa

You are also welcome to contact the supervisors and ask them to continue to
negotiate.
